Newby Bridge

Newby Bridge is a small and pretty hamlet in the Lake District National Park, in Cumbria, England, although it is located very close to the Lancashire border, of which it was once a part, and so offers excellent proximity to the best of both counties. Newby Bridge enjoys a pretty location just a few miles west of Grange-over-Sands, on the River Leven, and at the southern end of Windermere, the largest and most famous of the lakes.

The hamlet is at the end of the preserved Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway, which is a very popular family attraction that provides tours through a large portion of the lower lakelands. Sheep farming still plays a significant role in the economy of this very traditional and relatively sedate part of such a busy tourist region, although due to its good location, tourism now plays a significant part, with a good choice of holiday accommodation available, providing an excellent vantage point from which to explore.
