Newarthill

Newarthill is a village in the Scottish council area of North Lanarkshire. It is situated three miles to the north-east of the town of Motherwell, and has a population of around 8,000 people. It is built on top of a rich source of coal, as well as other minerals, from which is gains its heritage, having been developed in the nineteenth century in the location of a previous, much smaller community. The High Street offers a broad range of shops and services, including medical facilities, and numerous public houses.

Popular attractions in the area include the Motherwell Heritage Centre, Summerlee Industrial Museum, Bothwell Castle, and Hunter House Heritage Centre.
