Newark, or Newark-on-Trent, in its full name, is a market town in the English county of Nottinghamshire in the East Midlands region of England. It is situated on the River Trent, with the River Devon also running through the town, at a crossroad of the Great North Road and the Fosse Way, which the ruined Newark Castle once overlooked. It features a large market place characterised by a high number of historic buildings. This is a very popular tourist town due to its grand town centre and wealth of historically fascinating sites. Newark also offers good shopping prospects, ample quality holiday accommodation, and a broad range of entertainment venues, as well as excellent links to the sites and attractions of the wider area.
