New Luce

New Luce is a village in the unitary council area of Dumfries and Galloway, in south-west Scotland. It neighbours the town of Stranraer, but is in a more remote location in the valley of the River Luce, between the geographical landmarks of Loch Ryan and the Galloway Forest Park, and is surrounded by wild moorland, on the route of the Southern Upland Way, which makes it a popular resting point that appeals very much to nature lovers and to archaeologists, as this is an area that is known to have been inhabited since the neolithic period, with the discovery having been made of a Neolithic chambered cairn, and Bronze Age burnt mounds. This is a location that offers fantastic views and a warm welcome for weary visitors, seeking a good cup of tea or a drink at the traditional local pub.
