New Galloway

New Galloway is a town in the Dumfries and Galloway region of south-western Scotland, in the valley of the Water of Ken, and near to the Loch Ken. The village was formally founded in the 17th century by the Viscount of Kenmure, when it was granted the status of a market town, although neighbouring Kirkcudbright was a more successful rival, causing New Galloway to become the smallest Royal Burgh in Scotland. It is now an attractive rural town, with a community feel much like that of a traditional village. It has a Town Hall, two churches, three pubs, and a range of leisure facilities, including a popular golf club. The town is  much-loved holiday destination, due to its location at the edge of the scenic Galloway Forest Park, and position on the Galloway Kite Trail, where the rare birds can been seen throughout the seasons.
