Mouswald is a small village of Nithsdale in the Scottish council area of Dumfries and Galloway. It is located 6 miles to the southeast of Dumfries, for which reason it is now largely a commuter settlement and peaceful but convenient tourist base. Mouswald Grange features the tower of an 18th-century windmill, which is a notable landmark of the village. It is situated within close proximity to the Solway Firth and to the Galloway Forest Park. Attractions in the area include the Savings Banks Museum, Caerlaverock Castle, Burns House, the National Museum of Costume, New Abbey Corn Mill, Thomas Carlyle's Birthplace, and The World Famous Old Blacksmith's Shop Attractions.
