One of the principal market towns in the county of Gloucestershire, Moreton-in-Marsh lies at an ancient crossroads on the Roman road of Fosse Way. It was in the 13th century that the town prospered with the hosting of a market that made Moreton-in-Marsh an important trading point. The market continues even now with vibrant produce available every Tuesday in the busy Redesdale Market Square. Moreton-in-Marsh has long been a stopping point for travellers and when the trains came in the 19th century, further development came too.
The charming high street of elegant 18th century buildings, independent traders, eateries, traditional pubs and inns, hotels and tea shops is the heart of Moreton-in-Marsh. There are attractive historic buildings and sites as well as visitor attractions, including; the Redesdale Market Hall, the 16th century Curfew tower and the Parish Church of St. David.
