Moelfre

The coastal village of Moelfre in Anglesey, Wales is rich with maritime history and heritage and is home of one of the most renowned lifeboat stations in the world. The bravery of the men of this lifeboat station is historic and many bravery medals have been awarded to the crews here. Along the coastal path are two reminders of the disasters and heroics of the past; the maritime monument dedicated to the ill-fated 19th century clipper Royal Charter and the memorial bench nearby that is dedicated to the bravery of the lifeboat crew who rescued all those aboard the Hindlea exactly 100 years to the day after the Royal Charter shipwreck. Glance across from the coastal path and you will see the distinctive tower of Ynys Dulas that was built to provide shelter for shipwrecked seamen in 1824.

Moelfre offers ample amenities and shops along with eateries and pubs as well as visitor attractions and places of interest including; the acclaimed Moelfre RNLI Lifeboat Station that is open to the public, the large sandy beach Traeth Lligwy, the ancient stone homestead of Din Lligwy and of course the wonderful coastal and inland walks that reveal an abundance of diverse wildlife habitats, flora and fauna.
