Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough is a university town situated in the Tees Valley of North Eastern England. This is a very urban townscape, situated only a few miles from the edge of the North York Moors National Park. The town provides a vibrant nightlife. Notable popular venues include "The Empire" in the town centre, which regularly features well known entertainers, live bands bands and DJs, including Roger Sanchez, Eric Prydz and DJ Disciple.

The town boasts "the largest civic space in Europe", with the newly renovated Victoria Square and Central Gardens, where visitors will find the Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art, which opened in January 2007, houses the second largest collection of Picassos in the United Kingdom, along with works by Andy Warhol, Henri Matisse and Damien Hirst among others.

Middlesbrough has two major recreational parks, the "Albert Park" and the "Stewart Park", both of which are located close to the town's town's most notable cultural attractions: the Captain Cook Birthplace Museum and the century-old Dorman Memorial Museum. The 18th century Newham Grange Leisure farm in Coulby Newham, is also a very popular family tourist attraction, offering the chance to view and pet a range of farm animals and view exhibitions of the farming history of the area.
