Mevagissey

The port and village of Mevagissey in the scenic county of Cornwall has a history that dates back to the Bronze Age and is said to have been named after the saints Meva and Issey. A simple fishing village, Mevagissey developed its port in the late 18th century and trade brought with it, prosperity and growth. The harbour here is both picturesque and historic as is the village with its narrow streets and clustered buildings that look out onto Mevagissey Bay.

Mevagissey remains a charming village with its harbour still in use today by visitors enjoying pleasure vessels and working fishing boats. Tourism is the main business here now and the village as well as the surrounding area have lots to offer visitors with activities, lovely walks and scenic spots. There is a good choice of restaurants, eateries, shops and pubs as well as visitor and cultural attractions here but it is always the harbour that brings the greatest pleasure.
