Melmerby

Melmerby is a small village in Cumbria, England. It is situated in a relatively sedate part of this famous tourist region, by the aptly named River Eden and amid endless winding valleys in the old fashioned English countryside. Long Meg and Her Daughters can be seen at neighbouring Little Salkeld. This 3500 year old stone is the second largest in the country.

Melmerby is a traditional little village that is very popular for its local bakery, which produces excellent breads and cakes made with organic, stoneground flour. The area is a favourite with ramblers, for its more comfortable but no-less rewarding, inclines and beautiful views. Melmerby Fell is very near by and Cross Fell, which is the highest part of the Pennines, is just a few miles away. The Hartside Fell is a prominent feature of the local landscape.
