The attractive coastal town of Maryport with its rich maritime heritage is in the picturesque Lakeland district of Cumbria, on the Solway estuary. The history of this town by the sea and the lakes goes back over 2,000 years; with a Roman Fort, Georgian buildings, Victorian docks and prosperity that was built on coal mining, iron making, shipping and shipbuilding.
