Malham

Malham is a village in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, England, situated within the Yorkshire Dales. The surrounding countryside is well known for its geologically facsinating limestone features, which demonstrate the processes the land underwent during the last Ice Age. Malham Tarn, Malham Cove, and the Dry valley are perhaps the most notable of these. The long-distance footpath, the "Pennine Way" passes through Malham, close to a number of these landmarks, including Malham Cove, Malham Tarn, the Gordale Scar and the Janet's Foss waterfall. The area is invariably used as a destination for school trips, and so has many family-friendly facilities.

The Malham Show is an annual agricultural and horticultural show that is hosted by the village each year on the Saturday before the August Bank Holiday. It holds a variety of creative and physical competitions. The Malham Safari is also a popular annual attraction, which is when the villagers build sculptures around the village. Both events attract lots of visitors and market stalls and small rides are set up to make the most of these fun family events.

Other attractions of the area include: the ruins of the Augustinian Bolton Priory in the Bolton Abbey Estate of Wharfedale; Kilnsey Crag, which is a popular rock-climbing challenge; the Three Peaks of the Yorkshire Dales; and the Ribblehead Viaduct.
