Maesteg

Maesteg is a town in Glamorgan, in Wales, situated in the north of the Llynfi Valley, near Rhondda Cynon Taf. Maested and its neighbouring towns and villages were once an extensive coal mining community, and as such boasts excellent transport links and waterways, by which a visitor might explore the famous Vale of Glamorgan. The area is very popular for walkers, outdoor enthusiasts and for those seeking traditional British holidays with a distinctive Welsh character. There are numerous shopping areas and traditional markets in the area, along with a choice of quality holiday accommodation, traditional pubs, and restaurants.

Popular landmarks of the area include the neolithic long cairn, or chambered tomb, Parc Cwm, on the Gower Peninsula, and the Neolithic portal dolmen. The Bwlwarcau Iron Age Hillfort can be found just 2 miles to the south of Maesteg.
