Lowestoft is Britain's most easterly town and located in the county of Suffolk. Lowestoft has a harbour that leads out to the North Sea and is a family resort with two of the best beaches in the area. The history and heritage of Lowestoft is of course tied to its maritime past which can be discovered through a number of the town’s museums and heritage walks. You can even discover the past life of a Lowestoft fishing trawler on board the floating museum ‘Mincarlo’ on Heritage Quay. The Lowestoft & East Suffolk Maritime Museum offers another voyage of discovery for the visitor.
Seafood here is fresh, tasty and a popular attraction with fishmongers and traditional smokehouses in the town. The sandy beaches, pleasant seaside walks and excellent attractions offer something for the whole family to enjoy. The beaches around Claremont Pier are considered to be some of the best in Europe. The seafront promenade is a colourful blend of the past and the present; offering donkey rides, a superb Victorian Seafront Gardens and new attractions too like the musical Royal Plain Fountains and the roller-skating rink at Claremont Pier.
