Longfield

The small village of Longfield in the picturesque county of Kent has a recorded history that goes back to the Domesday Book and the Anglo-Saxon charters of 964-995. There is a magnificent church here dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene that was built in 1343 but it was when the railways arrived and Longfield got its own station in 1872 that growth came. A fire ravaged the station in 1902 when it was replaced and later, in 1971 it was rebuilt.

The village has several shops and amenities, the wonderful 14th century church and a vibrant country market on Fridays. There is one pub here, the Railway Tavern and another just outside the village, the 15th century, thatched Wheatsheaf. The beautiful Kent countryside around Longfield offers plenty of opportunity to enjoy walks in fields and forests, bird watching, a variety of flora, fauna and wildlife and access to outdoor activities and adventures.
