Lockerbie is a small town in the Dumfries and Galloway region of southern Scotland, which adjoins the English border at the Solway Firth.
Lockerie's Dryfesdale Lodge visitor's Centre opened in October 2003 as a place for visitors to both explore the fascinating history of the area and to remember those who were lost in the disaster that has become known as the Lockerbie Bombing, when in December 1988, a commercial aeroplane crashed into the town as a result of a terrorist attack, killing 270 people from 21 nations. The lodge is located in the cottage of the former cemetery keeper, near to the Lockerbie Memorial Garden of Remembrance.
