Lochailort

Lochailort is one of the more remote villages of the Scottish Highlands. It lies at the head of the sea loch, Loch Ailort, on the junction of the "Road to the Isles" between Fort William and Mallaig. It is served by its own station on the West Highland Line.

The village and surroundings have been used as the set of several feature films, including as Local HeroBreaking the Waves, Complicity and the Harry Potter series. Tourism and salmon farming in the loch are the main industries of the village, which is surrounded by spectacular scenery and offers good amenities, including a village pub, an ill, a choice of self-catering cottages, and several shops.
