Llanrwst

The town of Llanrwst in Conwy, Wales is amidst the wonderful scenery and natural attractions of the picturesque Conwy Valley and Snowdonia National Park; an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty popular with walkers, climbers and outdoor enthusiasts. Llanrwst grew and developed around the manufacture of harps and more importantly, the trade in wool. Llanrwst was such a key part of the wool industry that for a long time, the price of wool for the whole of Britain was set here. Llanrwst was once the eighth largest town in Wales, with a population that was greater than that of Cardiff.

 

Llanrwst is well located to attract tourists and offers ample amenities, shops, eateries and pubs as well as being in easy reach of other towns offering additional choice for shopping, dining and leisure. Most visitors come for the historic and natural attractions of the area, including the delights of the River Conwy which is full of salmon and trout. Nearby historic and architectural attractions include Gwydir Castle and the narrow 17th century three-arch stone bridge, Pont Fawr that is said to have been designed by Inigo Jones. Locally too are slate caverns, copper mines and gold mines.
