Llandow

The village of Llandow in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales lies by the Heritage Coast and is alongside the site that was once home to a World War II RAF station. Now converted to benefit visitors and residents, it is the Llandow Circuit for motorsports and the South Wales Karting Centre where the Llandow Kart Club is based. Sadly, Llandow and its disused airfield are remembered as the place where, on the 12th of March 1950, the Llandow air disaster occurred. An airliner bringing Welsh rugby fans home from a match in Belfast, crashed on approach in the nearby village of Sigingstone. The lives of 80 passengers and crew were lost and at the time, this was the worst air disaster in history.

Llandow today is a lovely Welsh village set amidst beautiful scenery and offering a wealth of places of interest and historic sites for visitors to enjoy in the area. The little medieval parish church here that dates from the 11th century is a charming piece of the town’s history that remains today. Locally and nearby are ample amenities, pubs and eateries as well as the popular visitor attractions of the South Wales Karting Circuit with regular race meetings and the chance to drive, as well as the Llandow Race Circuit with various Race meetings throughout the year. Golf, fishing, walking, riding and other outdoor activities are well provided for in the area.
