Llanbedr

The coastal village of Llanbedr in Gwynedd, Wales is amidst the stunning mountains and picturesque scenery of this popular area of Wales, having developed as a result of its proximity to the slate mines. There is a wealth of interesting geology and ancient history to explore here with Neolithic standing stones and Bronze Age hut circles as well as the Morfa Dyffryn sand dunes and nearby Shell Island, also known as Mochras, a peninsula lying west of Llanbedr that formed after the River Artro was diverted in 1819.

 

Llanbedr is a traditional Welsh village where hill farming continues alongside the tourism and the male voice choir still rehearses every Sunday, there are ample amenities and shops and easy access to larger settlements nearby that offer additional choices. The golden sands of the beach and the diverse flora, fauna and wildlife of the countryside bring visitors throughout the year to Llanbedr. Bird-watchers love the area as there are at least 52 varieties of bird here including Buzzards, Red Kite and Ring Ouzel. Anglers too will enjoy the clear waters where otters thrive and out to sea, you may spot dolphins and seals.
