Liverpool's evolution has encompassed many historic events, but is probably most known as the birthplace of the Beatles. It is home to the world famous Cavern Club in Mathew Street, where the Fab Four made their debut performance with Brian Epstein in the audience on the 21st February 1961. The National Trust too have honoured the group; Mendips, John Lennon's childhood home in Liverpool, opened to the public for the first time in March 2003. Visitors can see the environment which influenced John's creativity, where he first started playing and writing music that would change the world and influence generations to come.
