The county of Lincolnshire is in the East of England, on the Humber estuary, the North Sea and The Wash. The county is generally low and flat, with extensive marshes along the coast. It is crossed by many dikes and canals, some of which, notably the Foss Dyke, date back to Roman times. Great Grimsby is a wonderful fishing port, still flourishing today. The area thrives on tourism because of the rich variety of things to do - both from the past and the present day.

No visit to Lincoln would be complete without entering the hallowed cathedral. One of the greatest buildings in the world, the Cathedral Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Lincoln is built of local limestone and has three towers that aside from their beauty, contain a wealth of detailed carvings in wood and stone. For historians and the merely curious, Lincoln Cathedral will delight with Medieval and Victorian glass that fills the windows, a superbly preserved Chapter House and library and astonishing features within the architecture that will continue to impress with every glance. Largely built in the 13thC, it retains a Norman core to the west front and is one of the earliest completed Gothic cathedrals.
