Larkhall is a town in Scottish county of South Lanarkshire, 18 miles to the south-east of Glasgow. It is situated on high ground between the River Clyde and the Avon Water, at the edge of the Clyde valley.
The town is famous for the legend of the black lady of Larkhall, who was the wife of Captain McNeil, the owner of . She is said to have been kept hidden away in the house until she eventually ceased to go out in public altogether and the Captain claimed she had disappeared. Sightings of her ghost have been reported ever since.
