Kirkliston

Kirkliston is a small village in the City of Edinburgh council area, in Scotland. It is situated on the former Edinburgh to Queensferry road. It is known as the gateway to Fife and the north. This is an historic settlement that can boast the claim to fame of being the location of the first recorded Parliament in Scottish history, in 1235.

Kirkliston has the nickname "Cheesetown", possibly because of the inscription in the window of Castle House by Robert Burns, which mentions cheese; or possibly because the construction workers of the Forth Bridge would regularly eat cheese sandwiches for lunch.
