Kirkby-in-Furness

Kirkby-in-Furness in Cumbria, England is the village with the biggest borders in England, having developed from the six hamlets of Beck Side, Soutergate, Wall End, Sand Side, Chapels and Marshside. The name of the village is mentioned in the Domesday Book as Kirkby Ireleth as a former township and was the name of the railway station that served the six hamlets It is one of the larger villages of the the peninsula. The village overlooks the Duddon estuary and the mountains of the Lake District The nearby Kirkby Moor rises to 334 metres above sea level. Although small in itself, the village provides an excellent vantage point from which to explore the local area.
