Kinross is a burgh town of around 5,000 people in the Scottish council area of Perth and Kinross, and the former county town of what was the county of Kinross-shire prior to 1975. This is a relatively small town but popular town to visit, attractive buildings and scenic landscapes, on the shore of Loch Leven where boat trips can be taken around the loch and to Loch Leven Castle. Recent developments have rejuvenated the 12km walking and cycling heritage trail around the shoreline of Loch Leven, which begins at the RSPB Vane Farm Nature Reserve and includes Kinross Pier, and Kirkgate Park, which is a very nice year-round walk providing panoramic views across the loch the surrounding hills. The town is also notable for hosting the annual T in the Park music festival at the nearby former Balado airfield.
