Kington

Kington is a small market town in Herefordshire, England, situated near to the Wales-England border. It is actually on the western, or Welsh, side of Offa's Dyke, but has been an English settlement for over a thousand years. It lies on the Hergest Ridge, with striking views over the River Arrow and surrounding area, neighbouring the towns of Presteigne, Knighton and Leominster.

The name Kington probably derived from King's-ton, or "King's Town", much like the nearby Presteigne meant "Priest's Town" and Knighton meant "Knight's Town". The remains of the Norman-built Kington Castle can still be seen in the town today on top of the hill, where the town, the castle and the church, first developed, overlooking the River Arrow. Today this town maintains a traditional and village like atmosphere, with a good selection of well-regarded pubs, restaurants and independent shops, along with excellent transport links and a choice of holiday accommodation.

Attractions in the area include Croft Castle, Burford House & Garden Centre, Ludlow Racecourse, Hereford Cider Museum, and the Brockhampton Estate.
