Kilmacolm is a village in the Scottish council area of Inverclyde, within the historic county of Renfrewshire. It is located in the west central Lowlands of Scotland, among a knot of villages in the Gryffe Valley, neighbouring Greenock and around 15 miles to the west of the city of Glasgow. Kilmacolm is an attractive ad relatively affluent settlement with a small commercial centre, and a predominance of Victorian and Georgian architecture.
Kilmacolm closely neighbours Quarrier's Village, which although now a residential community, was founded in the 1870s, by William Quarrier as a series of Orphans' Homes. It remained a residential children's community until the late 1970s.
Popular attractions in the local area include the Finlaystone Country Estate, the 18th century Weaver's Cottage, Denny Ship Model Experiment Tank, Geilston Garden, Coats Observatory, and the Paisley Museum, to name only a small selection.
