Kentish Town

Kentish Town is an area of Camden in north west London, which was originally a settlement on the River Fleet, which now runs under the city. Karl Marx once lived here at number 9 Grafton Terrace in the 1850s.

Perhaps the biggest legacy of this popular suburb is its contributions to music. It was once home to a large proportion of famous piano and organ manufacturers, in the 18th and 19th centuries, and still retains a vibrant performing arts scene, noted for its pubs and bars. Recent notable performances held in recent years include well-known artists such as The Housemartins, Suede, PJ Harvey, The Shamen, Manic Street Preachers, Ash, The Pogues,  Blur, The Men They Couldn't Hang, Keane, The Libertines, Muse, and Coldplay.
