Kelso

Kelso is a market town in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland. It is situated in a scenic location at the confluence of the rivers Tweed and Teviot, and is a very popular visiting place owing to its quaintness and charm, with cobbled streets and elegant architecture, along with the ruins of Kelso Abbey and the Floors Castle. The village bridge is notable as having been designed by John Rennie who went on to build London Bridge in a similar style.

The town began in the 12th century, around Kelso Abbey, which was founded in 1128. Sir Walter Scott, who attended Kelso Grammar School in 1783 called the town "The most beautiful, if not the most romantic village, in Scotland". Cobby Riverside Walk is a popular way by which visitors and locals a like take in the pleasant surroundings of Kelso and her neighbours, as it takes them from the town centre to Floors Castle, along the banks of the River Tweed and includes "Rennie's Bridge".
