Iver is an area and civil parish in the south-east of the English county of Buckinghamshire. It covers an area of about eight square miles and includes the villages of Iver Heath and Iver, with Richings Park to their south. The parish is situated on the the Greater London border, near Uxbridge, with rail links from Richings Park Station.
The most notable location of Iver is Heatherden Hall, in Iver Heath, which is a Victorian estate boasting spectacular grounds that became a private meeting place for politicians and diplomats in the 1930s. Later that decade it was purchased by Charles Boot at auction. He redeveloped the estate for use in film production based on the latest designs of the time and named it Pinewood Film Studios after the pine woodland of the area. This then became home to the globally successful James Bond phenomena, as well as the British classic "Carry On" comedy series.
