Benbecula is an island of the Outer Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland. It is situated in an awe-inspiring location in the in the Atlantic Ocean, with a population of around 1,300. A road causeway connects Benbecula to the islands of North Uist and South Uist, which it lies between, although travel to the Hebrides from the mainland is possible by air or water only. Daily return flights operate to Glasgow, Stornoway and Barra from Benbecula Airport. There are also several ferry services that provide access to the mainland.

The main settlement of Benbecula is the town of Balivanich, which is also the administrative centre of the trio of islands. There are several other towns and smaller villages around island, with a choice of convenience shops, several pubs, and guest accommodation. There is also a supermarket in Creagorry, in the south of the island, by the causeway to South Uist. The ruins of the 14th century Borve Castle can be seen in the southwest end of the island.
