Invergarry

The village of Invergarry in the Highlands of Scotland lies in the Great Glen which follows a large geological fault known as Great Flen Fault. The fault bisects the Scottish Highlands into the Grampian Mountains to the southeast and the Northwest Highlands to the northwest. The Glen has long provided a natural route in the Highlands of Scotland, which is used by both the Caledonian Canal and A82 road. The village is beautifully set amidst stunning scenery that attracts outdoor enthusiasts, cyclists and walkers as it is along the Great Glen Cycle walking route, which begins in Fort William 118 km away and is nearby where the River Garry flows into Loch Oich.

Invergarry is a wonderful old village, well placed for exploring this beautiful area and offering ample choice within the area for amenities and attractions. The village is conveniently placed for Fort William, Fort Augustus, Inverness and the West Coast and Skye. The castle of Invergarry has been witness to an often brutal history in this place where the clans of Scotland guarded their lands aggressively. Invergarry Castle is a ruin located just inside the more modern Glengarry Castle Hotel. At its peak, Invergarry Castle was home to the powerful clan MacDonnells of Glengarry. The Duke of Cumberland destroyed the castle when he waged war all across the highlands.
