Hunston

The small village of Hunston in the charming county of West Sussex is where the old Chichester Ship Canal connects to the city and offers a wonderful level towpath enjoyed by walkers and cyclists. The Chichester Ship Canal covers four miles from the Southgate basin in the heart of Chichester to the Chichester Harbour at Birdham. With boat rides that journey past mature trees and diverse wildlife habitats, flora and fauna the canal is a popular place with visitors as well as home to fish, ducks, swans, geese, coots and moorhens.

Hunston is a semi-rural village surrounded by picturesque countryside and retains a true village atmosphere, with just enough amenities, shops and a pub. Most visitors to the area are here for the outdoor attractions and activities, including anglers who come to fish on the canal. The canal has long been a popular angling venue and is well stocked with a broad range of fish including roach, rudd, perch, crucian and mirror carp, bream, pike, eels, dace and chubb. Fishing here is year-round.
