Howden

Howden is a small market town in the East Riding of Yorkshire, in England, neighbouring Goole and York. Howden is historically important, owing to its connection with William the Conqueror, who gave the town to the Bishops of Durham in 1080. Howden's Minister, as it came to be, was dissolved by Henry VIII in 1548, and eventually fell into ruin. Much of the stones and masonry of the church and choir having been taken for use in the building of the developing town. The remains, however, are still a very interesting and beautifying feature of the town.

York Minster, JORVIK York and the National Railway Museum are just a few of the attractions in the immediate area, with Flamingo Land Theme Park & Zoo, Eden Camp and Castle Howard, being among the many others within easy reach.
