The historic market town of Holsworthy in the attractive county of Devon is in a picturesque spot on the River Deer. Surrounded by the rolling green hills of Tarka Country, named after Henry Williamson's bestselling ‘Tarka the Otter’ book, Holsworthy attracts visitors with a love of the outdoors. Within this area are the rugged cliffs of the Hartland Peninsula as well as the nearby dramatic coastline and lakes that make this an ideal central base for exploring nature, wildlife habitats, flora and fauna.
Holsworthy still hosts its market as it has since the late 12th century with a colourful outdoor Pannier Market every Wednesday. The town has traditional shops, a choice of pubs and eateries as well as historic and cultural sites including a museum that tells the story of Holsworthy’s bygone days. The town’s calendar is full with celebration as craft fairs are held four times a year, a vintage car rally every June and the St. Peter’s Fair in July goes on for a week with live entertainment and a host of activities.
