Holmrook is a village on the English North-West coast in the popular tourist region of Cumbria, just outside of the Lake District National Park, near Whitehaven and Barrow-in-Furness. This is a more tranquil and idyllic part of a heavily tourist-orientated region, allowing visitors the duel convenience of close proximity to the lakes as well as to the seaside, with countless attractions and historically fascinating sites to visit locally, too.
The village situated on the banks of the River Irt, which flows from the Wastwater lake in the Wasdale Valley, an area known as the home of British rock climbing. The Wastwater is the deepest lake in England, and offers an otherworldly vista of still waters and steep-sided mountains — particularly those of Whin Rigg and Illgill Head, on the south-eastern side of the lake — although the incline is much gentler to the north. The Ravenglass Estuary and the seaside resort of Seascale are also very popular locations within easy reach of the village.
