Heriot

Heriot is an attractive and welcoming small village in the Scottish Borders council area. It is located in a relatively rural area to the south-east of Edinburgh, in the scenic Moorfoot Hills and surrounded by an expanse of moorland. It serves as a commuter settlement for nearby Edinburgh, and other towns in the area including Eildon, Kelso Musselbugh, Livingston and Peebles, and is also a popular location from which tourists can explore the area. Popular local attractions include Arniston House, Robert Smail's Printing Works, the 13th-century Thirlestane Castle (one of Scotland's oldest), Crichton Castle, Bowhill House & Country Estate , Melrose Abbey, and Traquair House, to name only a small selection.
