Hengoed is a village in Glamorgan, Wales. It is situated on the western face of the beautiful Rhymney Valley, between the towns of Ystrad Mynach and Cefn Hengoed. The area was once a prominent coal mining community, and as such now boasts excellent transport links and waterways, by which a visitor might explore the famous Vale of Glamorgan. The area is very popular for walkers, outdoor enthusiasts and for those seeking traditional British holidays with a distinctive Welsh character.
Popular landmarks of the area include the neolithic long cairn, or chambered tomb, Parc Cwm, on the Gower Peninsula, and the Neolithic portal dolmen.
