Helmsley

Helmsley is a market town in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire, in England, situated on the River Rye. The ruins of Helmsley Castle tower are the most notable landmark of this pretty rural town, which neighbours Thirsk and Pickering, by the Hambleton Hills. The Cleveland Way National Trail starts in the town, passing through Helmsley Walled Garden into the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. 

Local attractions include Rievaulx Abbey and the Helmsley Arts Centre, while the wider area offers a number of fun and educational tourist attractions, including: Flamingo Land Theme Park & Zoo, Malton Museum, and Eden Camp — all of which are in neighbouring Malton. The Scampston Hall & Walled Gardens, Castle Howard, Wharram Percy Medieval Deserted Village, and the Kirkham Priory are also within close proximity to the village.
