The town of Havant in the county of Hampshire lies on the coast where an old Roman road once brought travellers through the area. There was a Roman settlement established in Havant, although major growth came much later in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The town developed and prospered through the ages to have brewing, glove making a leather industries and became the premier parchment making facility in southern England; the ‘Treaty of Versailles’ was written on Havant parchment. For much of the town’s past, the water mills and springs have been a key feature of life and work here.
Havant enjoys a picturesque location on the rural coast and offers a wealth of activities, sites of interest and attractions within the area for visitors to enjoy. The town has plenty of amenities, lovely shops, ample eateries and pubs and a great combination of excellent beaches and countryside that attract all types of visitor. From boating and angling to gentle coastal and inland walks, Havant is a wonderful destination.
