Hale

Hale is a village within the Halton unitary authority of Cheshire, in England. The village is situated to the north of the River Mersey, near the boundary with Merseyside. The area is known for its scenic walks, network of canals and waterways, cobbled villages and countless listed buildings. Hale is one of a knot of pleasant semi-rural local villages, which provide excellent holiday accommodation, countless pub-restaurants and varied entertainment, making this a very enjoyable location from which to explore the sites and attractions of Cheshire.

Hale is notable as the home of John Middleton (1578-1623), known as the Childe of Hale, who is believed to have been nine foot three inches in height. His cottage and grave are still present in the village, along with a life-sized carved sculpture of him, near St Mary's Church.

Popular attractions in the area include Chester Cathedral, Chester Zoo, Gulliver's World Theme Park, and the National Waterways Museums, to name only a few.
