Gwalchmai

The village of Gwalchmai in Anglesey, Wales has some amenities and is in close proximity to more developed towns and villages that offer an excellent choice of shops, ample amenities, eateries and pubs. The location of Gwalchmai on this unspoilt island is amidst beautiful countryside in an area renowned for breathtaking scenery and diverse wildlife, flora and fauna. The remains of a windmill stand to the south of the village, on land that belonged to the Treveilyr Estate. The mill was built in the early 19th and run by a succession of millers from the Williams family who milled here until the 1930’s. Although the sails and cap were taken down in 1927, the mill continued to be operated by diesel engine.

Gwalchmai is a village of two distinct parts, Gwalchmai Uchaf in the south-east and Gwalchmai Isaf in the north-west. The Anglesey Agricultural Showground is nearby and hosts events throughout the year, bringing thousands of visitors to the 160 acre site. The village is also within easy reach of many of Anglesey’s heritage sites, museums, galleries, visitor and cultural attractions on the island; including the fascinating Anglesey Sea Zoo, the Butterfly Palace and Historic Beaumaris with its castle. Outdoor activities are well catered for here, making the area popular for fishing, boating, walking, golfing, surfing and riding.
