Grimsby

Grimsby is a large town and seaport in the county of Lincolnshire, North East England. It is situated at the confluence of the River Haven and the Humber Estuary, adjoining the neighbouring town and seaside resort of Cleethorpes, and is best recognised for its large Edwardian Dock Tower.

The town has an interesting founding legend, as told in the Middle English romance, "The Lay Of Havelok the Dane", where the Danish fisherman named Grim brought the young Danish prince, Haveloc, to England to save his life, and raised him as his own. This is a fitting story as Grimsby is also known by the moniker "Food Town" due to its long history as a fish port and food product producer. The town now features a busy retail centre at Freshney Place, and a string of popular nightclubs along the Riverhead.

Local attractions include the National Fishing Heritage Centre at Alexandra Docks, the Sealife Centre at Cleethorpes, Pleasure Island Theme Park, and Waltham Windmill. Popular attractions in the wider area include Lincoln Castle, Lincoln Cathedral, Thornton Abbey, and Natureland Seal Sanctuary, to name only a handful.
