Gretna is a town in the county of Dumfries and Galloway, in south-eastern Scotland. It enjoys an enviable location in the Solway Firth Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the Anglo-Scottish border. The town, and in particular the adjoining town of Gretna Green, are a well known wedding location due to their attractiveness and the more liberal marriage laws in Scotland.
The town offers excellent shopping prospects, with the Gretna Gateway Outlet Village being a particular favourite of visitors, a good choice of quality holiday accommodation, and attractions that include the world famous Old Blacksmith's Shop and Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery, and Carlisle Cathedral and Caerlaverock Castle within a short distance.
