Greenhithe is a village in the English county of Kent, located between the River Thames and the London to Dover Road section of the Roman Road, Watling Street. It has thrived over the centuries due to its wharves on the river, which were used for the transport of raw materials and building materials, and still are to a smaller extent. The area has undergone extensive redevelopment as part of the Thames Gateway regeneration scheme, to include an enormous shopping complex and general beautification, which has seen a resurgence of tourist interest in the village as a pleasant base from which to enjoy the English South East.
