Great Harwood

Great Harwood is a small town in Lancashire, England, neighbouring Blackburn. The primary landmark of the town is the clock tower in the old market place centre, which is a tribute to inventor John Mercer (1791-1866), whose invention of mercerisation of the cotton dyeing process brought industry and growth to the area, and so founded the town.

Great Harwood is conveniently situated to take advantage of all that Lancashire has to offer as it is close to a number of popular walking routes through the valleys and rural landscapes of the area, and to a network of popular canals and waterways, including the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

The attractions of the local area include, but are not limited to, Astley Park & Astley Hall, The Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Camelot theme parks, Chorley Little Theatre, Heskin Hall, Rivington Pike, and the Beacon Fells National Park, with much more to see and do in the wider Lancashire area.
