Gourock

Gourock is a picturesque town in the Inverclyde council area, and a former burgh town of the historic county of Renfrewshire. It is located on the Firth of Clyde, in the west central Lowlands of Scotland and is a quiet and traditional seaside resort. The town boasts one of the last public outdoor swimming pools in Scotland, which was built in 1909, was tidal, and had a sand bottom. It has since been redeveloped as a modern, heated facility, and clean saltwater pool.

It's most recognisable landmark, the "Granny Kempock Stone", is a megalithic stone that overlooks the town from a cliff behind the main shopping street. It carried the superstition that outgoing sailors or newlyweds should walk around it seven times to ensure good fortune.
