Glenboig

Glenboig is a village in the Scottish council area of North Lanarkshire. It is located to the north of the town of Coatbridge, in a more rural area on the outskirts of the Glasgow commuter belt. It developed around the local coal mining and brick-making industries, which ceased completed in the 1980s, and so the village is now largely a commuter dormitory for the larger towns in the area and for the city, owing to its good road links, although it lacks a railway station, and has grown in this capacity, with the addition of two new housing estates. The settlement now has a population of around 1,500 people and boasts two well-regarded pubs, general small shops and amenities, and two take away restaurants, along with various small businesses.
